The McDonogh Private Music Department is committed to providing excellent instruction to students of all ages and levels of accomplishment. To that end, the department offers private music instruction on campus during the regular school day.
The program emphasizes the development of skills in creating and performing music with a specific instrument. Middle and Upper School lessons are 30 minutes long, while Lower School lessons are 25 minutes to allow for class movement. Lessons are scheduled so they do not interfere with academic or athletic programs. A limited number of instruments are available for rental from the department.
Private music instruction is offered on the following instruments:
Private music instruction is scheduled during music class or recess for lower schoolers; during study hall or activity period for Middle Schoolers, and during study hall, free period, or activities period for Upper Schoolers.
